How to mirror a YouTube video

Dance tutorials are usually filmed facing you, so the teacher's left is your right. Mirroring the video flips it left to right, so you can follow along as if you were dancing in front of a mirror.

Step by step

  1. Copy the video's link

In the YouTube app, tap Share and then Copy link. In a browser, copy the address from the address bar. Shorts links work too.

  2. Paste it into SongMark

Open SongMark and paste the link into the box at the top. The video starts playing straight away, with no account needed.

  3. Tap the Mirror button

Under the video, tap the mirror button (the split square icon). The video flips left to right. Tap it again to switch back.

Tips for learning choreography

  • Slow it down too. Step the speed down to 0.75× or 0.5× while you learn a section, then build back up to full speed.
  • Loop the tricky eight counts. Drag the loop handles around the part you keep missing and switch on Loop section, so it repeats until it sticks.
  • Film yourself side by side. Turn on the camera next to the video and record a take. Your camera can be mirrored too, so both pictures match while you compare.

Questions

Is SongMark free?

Yes. You can paste links, mirror, slow down, loop and film yourself without an account. Signing in is only needed to keep playlists across devices.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. SongMark runs in your phone's browser, so there's nothing to install.

Does mirroring download or change the video?

No. The video plays from YouTube's official player; SongMark only flips how it's shown on your screen.

Why does the YouTube text look backwards?

Mirroring flips the whole player, including YouTube's own buttons and captions. SongMark's controls below the video stay readable.
