How to loop part of a YouTube video
YouTube can loop a whole video, but not just the part you're practising. SongMark repeats any section you choose, from a single second to several minutes, and you can slow it down at the same time.
Open SongMark, it's freeStep by step
Paste the video's link into SongMark
Copy the link from YouTube (Share, then Copy link, or the address bar) and paste it into the box at the top of SongMark. The video starts straight away.
Mark the start and end
Drag the two loop handles under the video to the start and end of the section. For an exact point, tap the start or end time and type it, like 1:15 or 75 for seventy-five seconds.
Switch on Loop section
Turn on the Loop section switch. When playback reaches the end of your section it jumps straight back to the start, and keeps repeating until you switch it off.
Make your loops work harder
- Loop a little before the hard part. Starting a couple of seconds early gives you a run-up, so you practise the transition and not just the move.
- Slow first, then speed up. Loop at 0.5× until it’s clean, then 0.75×, then full speed, without moving the loop points.
- Mirror dance tutorials. If the teacher faces you, tap the mirror button so their left matches yours while the section repeats.
Questions
Can't I just use YouTube's own loop?
YouTube's Loop option repeats the entire video. Its Clip tool can repeat a short clip, but clips are limited to 60 seconds and you can't adjust them while you practise. SongMark loops any length and lets you move the start and end at any time.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. SongMark runs in your phone's browser, so the same steps work on iPhone and Android, with nothing to install.
What's the shortest loop?
One second, which is useful for drilling a single move or a short guitar lick.
Can I slow the loop down?
Yes. Use − and + next to the speed to play anywhere from 0.25× to 2×. The pitch stays the same, so music still sounds right.
Is it free?
Yes, with no account needed. Sign in only if you want your playlists saved across devices.
Ready to practise?
Paste a YouTube link and you're looping, slowing and mirroring in seconds. No download or account needed.
